Making two contradictory judgements about the same news item is OK depending on the historical AND social context. The bottom line is just that: for outlets that want to make money they have to create as many consumers as possible both interested and supportive of their current viewpoint. (This author is making no judgement of the current or past news, but merely making light of the contradictory content that was provided.)
